Addressing more lies from my opponent

My opponent has resorted to lies and scare tactics to cover up her clear lack of knowledge of the issues.  I need to address these many lies to defend myself.

She has memorialized this particular lie in writing.  At both the debate this week and in her written response to the League of Women Voters questions (accessible here), she makes the following claim:

Diane Karabetsos: “My opponent clearly limited community participation by dropping the discussion meeting and recently voted to limit the time residents could speak at the open mike”

She clearly confused me with her friend Cindy Pangborn who actually made the following motion to alter our policy to reduce public participation at Board meetings.

The motion is below.  It passed 6-1. I was the ONLY Board member to vote against it. (Full Meeting Minutes accessible here.)

Aug 23 Meeting Minutes
I brought this to her attention, as well as the public’s, that she was perpetrating an outright lie.  I brought the above Minutes from the August 23rd meeting with me to the debate and offered her and the audience a copy.  She didn’t take it.  Maybe she and her supporters who have resorted to lying will read this blog entry.

Aside from having no credibility, the overall theme of my opponent’s campaign is pessimism, negativity, divisiveness and distrust.  Now it should be more clear to her and her supporters why our slogan is Pride and Progress.  I have proven to have the ability to solve problems and move the district forward in tough times.  Focusing on the positive – amplifying and replicating it – will be our pathway to continued progress.

Where will the lies, negativity, and pessimism of my opponent’s campaign lead us?

I did watch the League of Women Voter’s Candidate Forum last evening, as I was, unfortunately, unable to attend. I know your viewpoints and campaign goals, but not your opponents. The take away from her closing statement was negativity towards you and nothing about what she hopes to accomplish if she were elected to the Board.
