GPPSS Financial Benchmark Report and Analysis

Several years ago the Board of Education adopted a new policy that annually a report such as what is seen here would be developed and published. It benchmarks the Grosse Pointe Public School System against 13 other Michigan public school districts, most of which are Metro Detroit school systems. It also contains my analysis, as Board Treasurer, of the data that spans eight years.

I believe this is the best such report of its type among all Michigan public schools and is representative of our commitment to financial transparency. It also dovetails to my “Moneyball Theory” of public education accountability and continuous improvement, the summary point of which is that we must be broadening our use of various financial, demographic, and academic metrics to identify areas of strength and weakness. That’s the only way we will ever improve.

I welcome your comments and feedback.
