June’s a busy month for lots of folks, particularly school board members. We are in our final stages of completing what has been a very tough budget year, something that understandably brings out a great deal of angst on many fronts. That’s the way things have been for the last 5 years I have served on the Board.
But June also brings graduations and one of the few opportunities we, as Board members, have to actually participate directly in a school activity by handing out diplomas. Seeing so many smiling faces among the graduates, staff, and the community brings a great feeling. It reminds me that all the hard work we put in for these students to get them to this point in their lives so full of optimism has all been worth it.
Congratulations to all the graduates, their teachers, administrators, counselors and others for a job well done. Go out and make us proud.
